Are Longboards Better Than Skateboards?

To answer this questions it is helpful to have an understanding of the history of skateboards and later longboards. Skateboards were born of a desire for surfers to continue to have the feeling of riding a wave, but on the land, therefore the first skateboards were literally planks of wood with wheels attached. Longboards were developed later, to get a more authentic feel on the land, like riding the wave on the sea, so the boards are longer, have softer wheels and cope better with bumby terrain than skateboards. Longboards are more stable, easier to balance on than skateboards and are therefore better for beginner skaters.  

Which Longboards Are Best For Beginners?

As we have already mentioned all longboards are easier to ride than skateboards for beginners. The longer and the wider the board, the easier it will be for a beginner as the more stable it will be when standing on it. Longboards also have larger wheels and trucks, again making them more stable.
